Kalispell searching for new fire chief

The city of Kalispell is taking applications for a new fire chief after longtime Chief Dave Dedman recently announced his retirement.

Dedman confirmed he is retiring and his last day will be June 10. He’s led the Kalispell Fire Department for about 10 years and has been with the department for 25 years.

Minimum qualifications for the position include a bachelor’s degree in fire science, public administration or a closely related field. Also, the candidate must have 15 years experience in fire and emergency medical service work, including five years as chief, captain or battalion chief.

The first review of applications will be March 28.
