COLUMBIA FALLS — Maddie Robison scored 13 of her 19 points after halftime for Columbia Falls, which hung on to beat Whitefish 48-47 in Northwestern A girls’ basketball Thursday.

The Buildogs trailed 48-41 with 1:30 left before Ashton Ramsey and Gracie Smyley hit back-to-back threes to cut the gap to one. Whitefish had a chance to go ahead late, but the possession ended in a turnover, and Columbia Falls went to the line with two seconds left. Both free throws missed but the Bulldogs were unable to get a shot up.

“They hit some big shots down the stretch,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said. “That’s a much-improved basketball team, Whitefish is. And that’s a good win for us.”

Smyley had 18 points to lead Whitefish. Ramsey added 16.

Grace Gedlaman added 11 points for the Wildcats, including all eight of their first-quarter points.
