Winterland hosts drive-in movie night in Whitefish

| July 1, 2021 12:00 AM

Winterland is kicking off the Fourth of July weekend with a pop-up drive-in at Smith Fields in Whitefish.

Winterland invites the Flathead Valley to come watch two classic family-friendly films under the stars. Friday, July 2, the show will be the ‘80s adventure classic “The Goonies.” Saturday, July 3, the show will be “Forrest Gump.”

Winterland has partnered with Project Whitefish Kids (PWK), a nonprofit that operates the Smith Fields Sports Complex to offer drive-in movie night.

The gate opens at 7:30 p.m. and the films start at sunset. Tickets are $10 per person; veterans with military ID get tickets at half price. Tickets can be bought at the entrances and space is limited so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

Hot dogs and bison burgers, candy and popcorn, and other treats will all be available at the cash-only concessions stand. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the playground, bring a Frisbee to toss in the surrounding fields and to tune in to Winterland Radio before the show.

Winterland Film + Tech is a Whitefish-based nonprofit film and technology festival launching March 2022 in downtown Whitefish. It will showcase a variety of independent films, along with panels and workshops with producers, cinematographers and studio executives.
