James 'Jim' Grinde, 85

James “Jim” Grinde, 85, passed away from natural causes in Whitefish. Jim was born on Jan. 28, 1936, in Shelby, Montana, died on June 30, 2021, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Jim grew up in Shelby, graduated from Shelby High School, attended Montana State University and served in the United States Army as a tank mechanic. Most of Jim’s life was on the farm; he farmed north of Shelby for over 50 years.

Jim spent his later years as a “snowbird,” spending his summer months in Columbia Falls and his winters in Mesa, Arizona.

Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 63 years; children, Jerry (Laura), Judy (Michael), and Jon (Kim); and his five grandchildren, Kassi, James, Kelsi, Andrew and Jacob.

No funeral is planned. A celebration will be held for family and friends. Donations can be made to the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish.
