Ronald Joseph Landwehr, 77

Ronald Joseph Landwehr passed away at his home in Columbia Falls on July 17, 2021.

He was born Nov. 6, 1943, in Los Angeles (war baby) to Russel Joseph Landwehr and Lorine (Hehmke) Landwehr.

After World War II he lived with his grandparents on a farm outside of Grandview, Washington, until he was 7 years old. His family moved to Williston, North Dakota and graduated from Williston High School and took two years of college at the Extension Center. He joined the Army in 1965 and spent three years in overseas duty.

Ron met the love of his life in the spring of 1968 and Lonna Daniels became his loving wife in the fall of 1969 at St. Richard Catholic Church in Columbia Falls.

He was employed at Plum Creek for 33 years as a welder, oiler, machinist, and the last 10 years of his career as a millwright for Plum Creek M.D.F.

He joined the Columbia Falls Volunteer Fire Department in 1975 and retired after his 20 years in 1995. He helped with the Young Fire Starter Program through most of the 20 years. He was a life member of the N.R.A. and the Knights of Columbus.

Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lonna Landwehr, son Donald Landwehr, daughter Heidi Cunningham, and two grandchildren, Riley Landwehr and Courtney Luepkes.

There will be a funeral service held at St. Richard Catholic Church of Columbia Falls on Saturday, July 24, at 10 a.m. and a reception to follow at noon at the home of Ron and Lonna.
