Law roundup: It's not a dog's life in the Flathead

| July 23, 2021 12:00 AM

The dogs days of summer don’t necessarily mean it’s a dog’s life for Flathead canines.

For starters, one dog got caught in a raccoon trap. The person who accidentally caught the dog said it was “pretty angry and growled.” An officer with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was able to free the dog and take it to the Flathead County Animal Shelter.

A dog seemed like it wanted to go swimming when it took off toward a boat launch in Somers.

A woman said a dog was tied up to a vehicle, but when officers investigated, there was no dog. It was determined the report was unfounded.

A woman complained about people living in a small school bus because their dogs allegedly “poop all over the place.” The woman explained she couldn’t identify the color of the school bus “because she is partially color blind.”

In non-dog news, some lost hikers called for support when one of them felt sick. They described feeling “tingly in the arms and legs” and they attributed the feeling to possible bad water. Luckily, they all made it out of the woods.

A woman went to clean up her son’s property while he was incarcerated. When she got there, squatters using the property told her she would have to pay them.

A man wanted to “make a complaint” about an incident that took place during the Under the Big Sky festival, but then he changed his mind.

A Kalispell landlord complained because his tenants who were living in a tent set up an air-conditioning unit. He said he didn’t “want to pay the electricity for that.” He was warned “against taking physical or retribution actions,” and he was told he would have to go through a formal eviction process to remove the tenants.

People were reported for sitting in lawn chairs in the back of a moving U-haul truck.
