Maxine May, 94

Mary Maxine May, 94, lost her 10-day battle with Covid on Nov. 30, 2020.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1926, in Ismay, Montana, to Katherine Cummings Griffin and Robert Griffin. She grew up in the Foundation and Knowlton area, and later attended high school in Miles City. She and Jack May were married two weeks before graduation, as he was leaving for World War II for three years.

Maxine graduated and worked at F.W. Woolworth's, while he was gone. Upon returning, they lived in Kinsey and Miles City before moving to Martin City in 1955.

Maxine loved working for 25 years in post offices in Martin City, Coram, Columbia Falls, West Glacier and Hungry Horse. Other special interests were family, friends, flowers, gardening and the mountains.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Jack, son John, daughter Judy Ann, and brothers Buford and Jimmy.

She is survived by her son Jim (Marilyn), daughter-in-law Jody (Jimmy) Lester, sister Ona Lee Willson, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, July 31, at 1 p.m. at Canyon Community Church in Coram. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls, followed by refreshments and visiting back at the church.
