Law roundup: Man gets help for bear spray incident

A man in a restroom on First Avenue East was allegedly having a medical emergency when he was heard yelling and saying he couldn’t pee and that it burned but wouldn’t let anyone help. He left the location and continued to scream. Kalispell Police Department requested medical assistance because the man reportedly sprayed his “private parts” with bear spray. He was “doctored up” at the booking shower and released.

A dog reportedly ran into a patrol car. There was no damage and the owner got the dog back.

A welfare check was requested for a man who was in the bicycle lane of the road waving his arms around and picking up rocks. The person requesting the check described him as being tall, skinny and “looks like a bum.” Officers made contact with the man who “wasn’t doing anything wrong, just cleaning up the sidewalk.”

A later call came in regarding the same man walking along the sidewalk and throwing rocks at vehicles. As per the police, he was still just cleaning the sidewalk.

Someone reportedly stole another man’s propane torch and $20.

A bearded man wearing “very dirty” pants and a tattered shirt was purportedly acting strange, cleaning the sidewalk and stumbling toward the road. He seemed OK to officers.

Someone’s mother allegedly ended up in jail the previous night and “the father in the situation” was concerned and wanting to get things wrapped up.

Two to three men who had been “day drinking” in a hotel room were reportedly heard screaming and arguing and yelling “stop.” An employee told the men that if they couldn’t resolve their issues and stay in the same room then she wanted them gone. The men separated and the disturbance was deemed verbal only.

About 10 teens were allegedly fighting behind Woodland Waterpark and a girl was heard threatening to shoot another girl. One of the girls may have been a runaway and was returned to her mother.

A woman called police asking for an ambulance but wouldn’t answer questions about why it was needed. Eventually, she said she was sprayed with bear spray and was in the front entrance area of a location, then hung up while an ambulance was paged. It finally came out that she was sprayed the previous day.

Someone reportedly found their stolen bicycle behind basketball courts, but it was locked up and he requested law enforcement assistance in reclaiming it. Officers spoke with the person who retrieved it on their own.

An “escaped patient” allegedly choked another patient at a treatment facility.

Someone on Sandy River Way in Columbia Falls allegedly told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office a woman was stopping vehicles and asking why they were there and what they were doing and taking pictures of their license plates.

A driver on Sunnybrook Lane in Somers was reportedly acting erratically when she was seen flailing her arms and walking around.
