Deputies investigating Columbia Heights altercation

Deputies with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Columbia Heights area east of Columbia Falls late Friday night for a reported assault with a weapon.

The incident began as a verbal disturbance in a grocery store parking lot between two groups of people. One group was reported to be two men sitting on mopeds. As the disturbance escalated one of the men on a moped allegedly fired shots at the other group of people before leaving the scene, eastbound on the mopeds, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. There were no reported injuries.
