Marian Thea Dickman, 96
Marian Thea Dickman was born June 5, 1925, to Metilda and Hilmer Knudson and settled in Peerless, Montana.
After graduation, Marian attended Billings, Montana, Teacher School and taught in a one-room schoolhouse during the war.
Later, Marian, her sister Goldie, and her husband Howard started a band together. Marian was very musical and played the clarinet, saxophone and piano, but Marian also had a beautiful voice, and loved to sing to Patsy Cline.
Marian was a secretary for the Ford Motor Company when she first met the love of her life, Walter, who managed the Whitetail, Montana, grain elevator.
Marian’s dream came true when she and Walter wed on Aug. 25, 1946. From that union three children were born, Larry, Linda and Ronald.
Marian enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, but when the children went to school Marian put on a new hat and became Walter’s bookkeeper and was a natural at her new job. They enjoyed the adventures of traveling by train to the grain elevator conventions.
Marian will always be remembered as a sweet lady with a kind heart, always ready to help. Marian spent many years as a volunteer for North Valley Hospital, the Vets Home and the Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce. She was adored and touched the hearts of many.
Marian always looked so radiant and dressed to the nines and was recognized by the many cute hats she wore. Marian spent her last years at Immanuel Lutheran Communities and the nurses and caregivers would often call her “Hollywood.” Thank you to you all for taking such good care of our dear mother, Marian. We appreciate you very much.
Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter, son Larry and brothers Norman, Maurice and Donald and sister Goldie.
Marian is survived by her daughter Linda and son Ronald (wife Desiree) along with many grandchildren, Lonnie, Rhea, Dustin, Shay, Kory, Becky and Taylor, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
All who knew Marian saw she was a bit of a firecracker. Silly, giggly and always smiling. Guess it was fitting she left with a bang on the Fourth of July, 2021. Marian will be missed by so many, but especially her family.
No formal funeral is planned. A celebration of life is planned at a later date.
