Marjorie “Marge” May Giermann was born on March 11, 1920, in Little Sioux, Iowa, and died July 26, 2021, in Kalispell.

Her parents were Paul R. Weston and Ada Boyd Weston. Marge graduated from Little Sioux High School in 1936 and married August “Augie” Giermann in 1937. They lived in Onowa, Iowa, and moved to Logan, Iowa, in 1942. Marge worked at the Logan Creamery and later was the deputy Clerk of Court.

Marge moved her family to Kalispell in 1948. Her parents and siblings (Beryl Smith, Edwin Blake Weston, Annabelle Iris Carroll, Robert Weston, and Vergene Rudio) all moved to Montana. Marge's home was the family's central gathering spot for pinochle, holidays and Sunday dinner with her famous fried chicken. Marge opened the White Star Cafe and operated it for 16 years until 1964. The final location of the White Star in the Glacier Building was popular with downtown business people and employees of City Hall across the street. Marge sold the White Star and worked in the office of the Gamble's store on Main Street from 1964 until 1970. She also worked two summers at the West Glacier Cafe during that time. In 1970 she got a job with the city of Kalispell and was appointed deputy City Clerk in 1975 and City Clerk in 1978. She retired in 1985.

Marge joined the Kalispell Chapter of the Business and Professional Women (BPW) in 1950. She served as an officer of the club for many years and for a year as its president. She was the national security officer of the Montana BPW Association. They named her Kalispell's Woman of the Year in 1962.

Marge was an avid bowler, and Augie drove her to many national tournaments of the Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC) across the country. Marge served as the president of the Kalispell chapter of the WIBC. She also enjoyed dancing and bingo.

Marge spent her later years living with and being cared for by her daughter, Elizabeth Kay Giermann, in Kalispell. She was also cared for by her daughter Beverly Daumiller, her nephews Tim and Bill Glidden, Bill's wife Peggy Ann, her niece Susan Halter, and her neighbor Sandy Erickson.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband Augie, two nephews, and two nieces. She is survived by her daughters, Kay and Beverly, her grandchildren Marjorie Forbes of Oak Harbor Washington, Scott Daumiller of Kalispell, Gerald Daumiller of Helena, her great-grandchildren David and Amanda Daumiller, Andy Forbes, and Megan Johnson, three great-great-grandchildren, and 17 nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service held for Marjorie 2 p.m. today, July 29, at Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kalispell.

Johnson-Glsochat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
