Kalispell man killed in ATV crash

A Kalispell man died in an ATV crash Thursday evening in a remote area east of Helena.

The crash occurred in Meagher County, north of Montana 12 between Checkerboard and Martinsdale, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

Troopers reported the man was driving a Polaris Sportsman south on Spring Creek Road when the ATV went off the left side of the wet dirt road and rolled, leaving the man wedged between two trees.

The man's injuries were fatal. His identity was not immediately released.

The Montana Highway Patrol reported the man was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol and excessive speed were considered factors in the crash.
