Whitefish teacher resigns amid probe into messages with students
A Whitefish Middle School teacher has resigned amid an investigation into inappropriate communications he had with several students, the school district said Friday.
The teacher chose to resign during the course of the investigation, which was conducted by an outside agency, the district said in a letter to families. The letter was sparse on details and did not identify the teacher.
The district said the situation was not severe enough to report to law enforcement, but the district's administration and Board of Trustees did inform state education officials.
"Please know that the district takes communication among and between students, staff and families very seriously, and we are here to help respond to concerns you may have," Superintendent Dave Means wrote. "The district wants to emphasize the importance of coming forward to share any concerns regarding electronic or other forms of communication."
The district said that people with questions or concerns can email info@whitefishschools.org. There is also a tip line available on the website of each school in the district.
