| June 21, 2021 12:00 AM

Our beautiful mother Volene Kemp, 96, joined her heavenly family on June 14, 2021.

Born in 1925 to William and LeVonne Rowley in Maywood, California, Volene enjoyed a fun-filled childhood with her three brothers, Bob, Bill and Jim. After graduating high school Volene achieved an AA degree and joined the Cadet Nurse Corps and became a registered nurse. In 1948 Volene married Glenn R. Kemp of Sacramento and began their love story which spanned 56 years. Glenn and Volene had three children, son David Kemp (deceased), daughter Marilyn Tucker (Curt), and daughter Eileen Downes (Scott). Volene is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; her grandchildren, Steve Kemp (Sumie), Gina Moon (Josh), Julie Stewart (Shawn), Erik Mencarini (deceased), Rosie Brammer (Dane), Carol Downes, April Van Winkle (Jake), and Aaron Tucker; and eight great-grandchildren.

Glenn and Volene lived their married life in Sacramento, California and enjoyed traveling, swap meets, collecting antiques, writing poetry, friends and family. In 2017 Volene joined her daughter Marilyn and Son in law Curt in Montana. Volene embraced the welcomed change and loved her place by the lake. Volene will be missed by her entire family. We are grateful for God’s plan and for her long life which allowed us many fun experiences. We will all cherish her memory.

A celebration of Volene’s life will be held at a later date. Remembrances honoring Volene can be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The family wishes to thank all who have sent their love.
