Law roundup: Teen’s gazes makes woman suspicious

| June 29, 2021 12:00 AM

A woman told the Columbia Falls Police Department a teenager with shaggy hair was “walking around and acting weird” on Martha Road. To the woman, it was more than the usual awkward phase of adolescence, however. She alleged the teen was looking into vehicles and staring into windows from the sidewalk when she left her home and he was still there when she returned about two hours later.

A group of possibly intoxicated “kids” and a bonfire were reported on Frontage Road.

A woman on Central Avenue in Martin City was reportedly pushed out of an establishment by a bodyguard and she called officers, telling them she slapped another woman who pushed her. The woman was heard yelling for someone not to touch her or she would “punch their lights out.” Medical personnel were called to aid a woman who allegedly hit her head on the pavement.

Someone reportedly stole live animal traps to catch rabbits on a woman’s property and the theft was caught on a security camera.

A man who allegedly didn’t think it was fair he was being kicked out of an apartment on Diane Road locked himself in his bedroom and called 911 because his roommates were knocking on the door and he thought they would get aggressive. They were counseled.

Fireworks were taken away from children on Fourth Avenue after someone told officers they were concerned the grass would catch on fire. Officers warned the children’s parents, who claimed they were unaware of the ordinance.

Officers checked on the welfare of a male standing outside in his underwear and while a truck was too high for him to get into, they made sure he got home.

Someone who left the keys in a 2017 midnight blue Volkswagen Alltrack reported it stolen on Eighth Street.

A truck allegedly followed someone for 25 miles and into a grocery store parking lot.

Residents on 10th Street were advised of the fireworks ordinance and warned they would be issued a citation if law enforcement had to return later that night.
