Richard Eugene Herbold, 76

Richard Eugene Herbold passed away on Feb. 27, 2021, in Kalispell. He was born in Lewistown on Sept. 1, 1944, the 10th of 12 children born to William Herbold and Mary Langevin Herbold.

At an early age, his family moved to Kalispell where he attended grades one through eight at St. Matthew’s School and graduated from Flathead High School in 1963.

As a member of the Little Shell Chippewa Tribe, he had an appreciation for all of creation. He was a man of the land. Some occupations included, the timber industry, working for Glacier Dairy, and shuttle transportation for PTI.

Richard lived a life full of love and adventure, from family camping trips at Spotted Bear, to sitting atop a camel in Egypt, getting lost in a huckleberry patch, or enjoying coffee with the gang. He was an amazing friend, brother, dad and papa. He is now dancing among the stars.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Herbold, and siblings Bill Herbold, Leonard Herbold, Swede Herbold, Joan Herbold, Jack Herbold and Karen Emerson.

Richard is survived by his children, Kendra Williams and Brent Herbold; grandchildren, Dalton and Kylee Meredith and Coleena Herbold; siblings, Mervin Herbold (Bonnie), Billie Bonner (Jerry), Bea Swan, Janet Rose (Gary) and June O’Connor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held on March 11 at 11 a.m., at Risen Christ Catholic Church in Evergreen, followed by a potluck at the community room in the VFW in Kalispell.
