Stephanie Baca, 76

Stephanie Baca, 76, died March 11, 2021, in Kalispell.

She was born March 20, 1944, in San Francisco and was raised in Denver. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, California, then education endorsements in Spanish and biology at Montana State University. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Antofagasta, Chile.

Stephanie taught in a one room schoolhouse in Avellino, Italy, in 1976 and taught English and math in Bremerhaven, Germany from 1979 to 1981. In Kalispell, Stephanie taught Spanish and biology at Flathead High School from 1984 to 2006 and Glacier High School from 2007 to 2009.

She was active in social justice issues, gardening, travel, watercolor and bridge club.

Stephanie is survived by her sister, Barbara Pieper, of California; daughter, Cristina DuVall, of Washington; sons, Marcos Baca of Hawaii and Daniel Baca of Colorado; grandsons, Keegan and Aidan Baca of Hawaii, and extended family.

A life celebration will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Woodland Park south rose garden.
