FHS Theatre finishes season with Talent Showcase

| May 6, 2021 12:00 AM

The Flathead High School Theatre Department’s Acting 2 class will present “Acting 2’s Got Talent! Monologue and Talent Showcase” May 11 and 12 at 6:27 p.m. in the David M. Hashley Theatre at FHS.

Seating will be very limited and offered to the families of the cast and crew. Tickets will only be released to the public at the door if still available. Tickets are $5.

“Monologue Showcase” features 12 monologues from a variety of media, genres and authors, from Shakespeare’s classics to “Brighton Beach Memoirs” and “My Fair Lady.” The cast will also perform a variety of talents including ventriloquism, dancing, magic and singing.

“Many of these students are new to the stage and we wanted to end our time together with something fun,” said director and Acting 2 instructor, Liz Sykora. “Each student has memorized and performed a monologue in class. Then they investigated a famous acting teacher and applied their theory to their monologues. This not only prepares them for their first IB Project, the Solo Theatre Piece, but also allows for a deeper understanding and reflection on what this thing called ‘acting’ is all about.”

The Flathead High School Theatre Department will finish the 20-21 season having produced eight productions.

“It has been a long year, but we are blessed in the fact that due to our diligent and careful safety work, Flathead High School Theatre has had a long and productive season,” Sykora said. “We hope you enjoy our show and celebrate these wonderful students!”

The technical crew includes Carson Robinson, Seda Ramsay, Lydia Wood, Emmerson Kaseman, Kay Gibbs, Isabelle James, Aiden Christy, Shelbie Guckenberg and Rebekah Hopp.
