Dorothy Alstad, 97

Dorothy Alstad, 97, of Kalispell, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 13, 2021, at her home of 67 years.

Dorothy was born in Kalispell on Jan. 13, 1924, to Albert and Dena Thorvilson. She attended Central School and Flathead County High School and graduated in 1941. After graduation she worked for Dr. Bugby and First National Bank. She married Orlando (Ole) Alstad on June 28, 1953, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. They were married 34 years upon Ole’s passing.

Dorothy spent her married life as a homemaker on the farm. She was a life member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir for 70 years and was a member and officer of Ladies Group and Circle. She also dedicated many hours quilting quilts for the needy. She was in a pinochle group and volunteered at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Immanuel Lutheran Home for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Dena, husband

Ole, brothers Oliver and Cecil Thorvilson, sister Florence Rose and grandsons Jordan and Clayton Alstad.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Ed) Benson, Ron Alstad, Carol Vish and Alan Alstad; grandchildren, Bobbi Bonner, David Benson (Roseé), Lori (Ward) Abernathy, Christy (Chris) Gross and Adam (Shay) Vish; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted, loving mother and friend to all.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 603 Main St., Kalispell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
