Sharon Anne Mattson, 75

| May 18, 2021 12:00 AM

Sharon Anne Mattson, born to Robert and Mary Boland of Los Angeles in January of 1946, passed away peacefully in her home on May 11, 2021, at the age of 75. She was surrounded by God, family, and music in the comfort of her home in Snoqualmie, Washington.

She had a sense of adventure with a deep love of travel and culture. Sharon spent time in Europe, buying a one-way ticket, only returning home because of an empty wallet. Ever intrepid, she became a flight attendant in the late ‘60s for Continental Airlines to feed her desire to see the world. As a young adult, she continued to travel widely through Europe, often taking off on a whim. Later in life, she was more contented with road trips and good friends, inevitably planned by her and always culminating in hilarity and good times for all those along for the ride.

If you were in Sharon’s life, you were … along for the ride. She was a spirited person with a welcoming personality and a daring zest for life. She spent 10 years living in Montana, where friends remain convinced that she was not only the genesis of the party, but most usually the life of it as well. When not entertaining at her home, she was “available” for impromptu concerts in restaurants or bars, charming onlookers with her spunk and musical stylings.

Her laugher was infectious, and her love of people, more endearing than one can adequately describe in words. She was even more gorgeous in spirit as she was in body. In a word, Sharon was fabulous.

Before striking it out in Montana, she was a loving mother of two, son Christian Mattson and daughter Courtney Meyer. Whether as president of the PTA, putting on school musicals, attending sporting events, hosting birthday parties, or ensuring her children got cocoa to keep them warm during ski races, she was a dedicated mother. In her spare time, she was the hostess for many a business dinner, turned social event for her late husband Jim, planning events for the women’s auxiliary of the St. Francis hospital.

aIn her later years, she became a grandmother to four boys, Liam, Dylan, Jack and Alexander. Affectionately called Noni, she was court jester for the boys and much to their parents’ dismay, often the instigator of mischievous behavior. Regardless of the outcome, the process was nothing but fun and the memories fond.

Sharon was a voracious reader and closet intellectual. She was witty and hilarious. She put all those around her at ease. She loved unconditionally and was loved universally. While incredibly outgoing, Sharon was deeply private, yet profound in her faith.

She wrung every last drop out of life and met God with a prepared and undaunted heart.

Those who predeceased her, including her parents, countless friends, and her love Jim, will no doubt welcome her home.

Those of us left behind can only do our best to live life with the sort of kindness, love and joy that she did — in anticipation of seeing her again one day. There is little doubt she will have something planned for all of us upon our arrival.

Sharon is survived by her son Christian (Hailey), his sons Jack –4, and Alexander – 11 months; her daughter Courtney (Dmitriy), her sons Liam – 10, and Dylan – 8 (their father Kevin); and her beloved sisters Patricia Peterson and Suzanne Niles and their children.

We have large shoes to fill.
