Law roundup: Man angry about ‘illegal' dog arrest

A man on Eagle Drive in Kalispell claimed his dog was “arrested illegally” and told dispatchers he was going to call every two minutes — this was his third time calling — until someone gave him back his dog despite being given the phone number and address of the shelter and told it would be open the following day.

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a passerby about a man allegedly standing in the middle of Whitefish Stage Road throwing rocks in the air and yelling at vehicles.

A 2-year-old black Angus cross was contained by a Kalispell woman on Willow Glen Drive who told officers she was holding it by a lead but didn’t know how much longer she could hold on because it was trying to step on her feet. The cow was returned to its owners.

Someone reportedly complained that parked cars associated with a house party with at least 30 people in attendance on Alpine Lane in Kalispell were blocking the road and people were yelling and sounded drunk. When officers arrived, a man exited the house, noticed the police vehicle and ran. Several people were then seen running out the back door and fleeing over a fence. The home then went dark and quiet and no one would come to the door. Officers left a message for the homeowner alerting her of the activity.

A man browsing around a U.S. 2 store in Kalispell allegedly stole a $300 range finder. He was issued a citation by police and the merchandise was returned.

Someone requested Kalispell Police Department check on the welfare of a man who reportedly was acting strangely when he was seen hugging a cable coming off a power pole at an intersection.

A strange man with shaggy brown hair allegedly picked up a tie rod and walked into the back of a business, pursuing an employee who called 911.

A man reportedly stole and drank a box of wine and then hung out behind the store.

An extremely intoxicated man claimed his friend threw him against the wall of a house and had an abrasion on his back. Officers spoke with other people in the house who allegedly denied an assault happened and they had to kick him out of the house because he was intoxicated, stumbling all over and falling on the furniture, so he went to sleep in his vehicle to avoid further property damage.

A woman and her children reportedly were being followed around a store by a couple of bearded men wearing masks and sleeveless shirts.

Three men got into a fight and one of them was being held down on the ground by the others at an RV parking site. The trio, who may have been brothers, eventually separated and no one wanted to press charges.

A homeless family reportedly checked out of a location but sat in the parking lot with their belongings and dog for hours despite being told to leave by staff who called the police requesting a drive-by. The group told officers they had a ride coming and would be on their way.

A front desk clerk wanted officers to be aware that people who had been kicked out of the motel were now camped out on another business’ property and yelled at the clerk that they were allowed to be there.

A swerving white truck with a kayak in the back reportedly hit a traffic cone on the bypass.

A white van with out-of-state license plates was seen swerving all over the road behind the theater.

An older man with a white beard was seen in the garbage in an alley.

A woman driving a truck allegedly hit a parked car, got out and ran. Officers made contact with the suspect, who was taken to the emergency room to have her blood drawn.

A woman reported two tires on her vehicle were slashed and on a different occasion, her license plate was ripped off.

A man reported a phone charger and a jar with carved glass eyes on it had been stolen from his vehicle a week ago.
