| May 22, 2021 12:00 AM

Dawson Donald Glazier was born on Aug. 4, 1941, and passed away on May 6, 2021, at the age of 79 after complications with an intestinal surgery.

Dawson was born and raised in the Flathead Valley. He lost his father, Harold Glazier, when he was 15 and his mother Olga Glazier later in life. He was predeceased by his brother, Howard Glazier and his sister, Viola Marquardt. He was also predeceased by Ed and Nellie Mahlum whom he considered family.

Dawson was raised on the Glazier Homestead west of town. He grew up on the ranch, raised stock, logged and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1960. Dawson served in the Marines. He went to an architectural design school and lived in Seattle for a couple of years. When Dawson moved back to the Flathead, he worked at and later purchased Davis Pipe and Machinery. Both of his sons worked with him until they went to college.

Over the years, Dawson was an active woodsman and builder. He bred and raced thoroughbreds for many years in Montana, Washington and Nebraska. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was known by many to be kind, hardworking and often lent a hand to those in need.

Fond memories from his family include such things as fishing small streams for brook trout; hiking to mountain lakes to fish; wall tents and a hunting camp in the Swan; gopher hunting; skiing at Big Mountain; horseback rides and cattle drives; and fishing in Alaska for big fish and Ashley Lake for little fish.

Dawson is survived by his sister-in-law, Laura Glazier; wife, Sandy Glazier, his two sons, Jeff and Todd Glazier, his two grandchildren, Dawson and Gavin Glazier; and many nieces and nephews. He helped, supported and loved his family throughout the various stages of their lives.
