Frederick J. Hammel, 80

Frederick J. Hammel, 80, passed away at his home in Kalispell Oct. 9, 2021. Fred was born to Frederick and Anne (McKay) Hammel Oct. 23, 1940, in Camden, New Jersey. Graduating from Audubon High School, Fred would soon join the National Guard where he would find a talent in industrial fields, becoming an electrician for years to come after his service ended.

In 1969 Fred married Roberta (Foody) in Cinnaminson, New Jersey, and would spend the next 52 years together creating cherished memories and raising their son, Michael, and eventually making their way to Kalispell to settle. When not found working on his many projects around the house, Fred and Roberta would be out traveling and finding great spots to go camping. Fred was actively involved in various political organizations throughout the years, including the John Birch Society.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Anne Hammel.

He is survived by his wife Roberta, his son Michael Hammel and his wife Kurstie of Kalispell, brother Richard Hammel and his wife Maryanne of Maple Shade, New Jersey, sister Patricia Donnelly of Port Jefferson Station, New York, and grandchildren Alyssa, Lindsey and Ashley Hammel.

Services are set for 11 a.m. on Nov. 6 at St. Matthew's Catholic Parish.
