Gini Ogle art exhibit is featured Phillips Studio & Gallery

Phillips Studio & Gallery is featuring the contemporary works of guest artist, Gini Ogle in her exhibit titled, “Close to Home.”

Meet the artist First Friday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. This special showing of Ogle’s work will be on display for one month before returning to Ogle’s home gallery, Frame of Reference in Whitefish and FoR in Bigfork.

Award-winning Kalispell artist Gini Ogle is a fourth generation Montanan. A notable aspect of her work is that it reflects a response that is purely intuitive. One gets the feeling that she utilizes all her senses, opening her heart to the subject and allowing that to influence every painting. In doing so, she makes the intuitive parts of her experience visible, allowing the viewer to bring their own response to the work.

Ogle is an accomplished student of the arts and continues to expand her work in new directions. Passionate about plein air painting, she states, “Painting from life has its challenges but offers the best opportunity to represent the intricacies of light, mood and atmosphere of a subject and enables me to put my voice to that experience. As well as our wonderful local color, the dramatic vistas of Glacier National Park greatly inspire and energize me and exemplify the feelings I bring to my work.”

In 2020, Ogle was invited to participate in the Hockaday Museum of Art’s prestigious “A Timeless Legacy” show where she was honored with the “Nellie Augusta Knopf Patron’s Choice” and “Elizabeth Davey Lochrie Best Miniature” awards.

She was juried by the Flathead National Forest, Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and Hockaday Museum of Art to experience the Artist-Wilderness-Connection in 2017 and spent 11 days dedicated to her art at a wilderness cabin.

Ogle says she appreciates and lives by the sentiment of the artist Vincent Van Gogh, “I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart.”

Ogle’s work will be featured now through Nov. 27 at Phillips Studio & Gallery in the Kalispell Center Mall. The gallery’s regular weekly hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
