Law roundup: Minor bus accident in Whitefish
A school bus transporting Whitefish School District students was involved in a minor hit-and-run Wednesday morning at the intersection of Conn Road and Montana 40.
No injuries were reported.
The bus was traveling west on Montana 40 when a car reportedly pulled out in front of it on Conn Road, according to a letter to families from Whitefish Superintendent Dave Means. The vehicle reportedly hit a bus tire and fled the scene, according to Montana Highway Patrol. The bus was able to transport students to school.
Someone on Blue Crest Drive allegedly confronted a truck of teens about stealing Halloween decorations. The Kalispell Police Department made contact with the youngsters, who were taking leftover candy from porches and nothing else.
A weary woman told officers that two men had been fighting and breaking things for the past hour in an apartment and an attempt to de-escalate the situation failed. Both men were extremely intoxicated and told officers they were arguing and wrestling but didn’t want to pursue charges. One of the men said he would leave after he got his cigarettes.
An agitated woman called 911 and cursed at dispatchers then hung up. She called again, telling dispatchers to come to a motel to fight her, saying this wasn’t a “ha, ha, ha matter.” She was advised she was making threats on a recorded line and she hung up. Officers spoke to the woman previously and believed she might have a mental health issue.
A woman listening to the radio purportedly heard that someone was posting “bomb papers on Mariah Carey’s house,” and she was mandated to report it but there was nothing the county could help her with.
A man calling from a motel told dispatchers he was jumped by a group of people who took his phone when the line disconnected. When reconnected with dispatchers, he said his phone was broken, the people had come back, one of them had a baseball bat and smashed a window on his vehicle. The incident reportedly started over a woman.
A man yelled at a woman for parking in front of his business, blocking her with his truck, but he eventually moved. She said there weren’t any signs stating she couldn’t park there and the man scared her when he watched her leave.
Someone received several inappropriate text messages containing pictures of a man holding a gun, stating “they don’t miss” from an unknown number. Officers made contact with a man at the number given and he reportedly thought he was sending them to a man he suspected his boyfriend was cheating with and was very apologetic. The unintended text recipient didn’t want to pursue anything further.
Someone was concerned when a man with a ponytail poured a liquid that had a gas odor around a gas meter. Officers determined the man had emptied a bucket left by a construction crew that contained a wood sealer and didn’t pose a hazard.
A man walked into a bathroom and left empty packages of items he might have stolen. He left in a Chevy Blazer that had front damage by a headlight and a missing license plate.
A bandana-wearing German shepherd on the loose was dropped off at the animal shelter.
A Nissan truck with a bunch of stuff in the back allegedly was swerving in and out of traffic and lane lines by a school zone.
A building landlord told officers a tenant said a man with a face tattoo was blocking the foyer door to a business and had belongings surrounding him and in the bushes. The man packed up and moved along.
A woman’s coworker saw suspicious activity in the parking lot in the form of two shaggy-looking men with bandannas on their faces who were sitting in a vehicle with the doors open, working on something and then popped the hood.
