Edwin 'Ned' Drake, 88

Edwin “Ned” Drake, 88, of Somers, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at his daughters home in Missoula of extended illness.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1933, in Somers to Anna and Vernon Drake. After being raised in the Flathead Valley, Ned went into the Army and served for two years. After returning from the Army, Ned worked in the local sawmills, then joined the IBEW union and worked many places, including the Libby dam.

On Nov. 7, 1955, Ned married Irene Nelson. The two were married for 55 years, settled in Somers, and raised their two children Denise (O’Lear) and Larry Drake.

When Ned wasn’t tinkering in the garage, he was enjoying all the outdoor activities Montana has to offer including hunting, fishing and camping. He and his wife spent many summers with their grandchildren camping or traveling. Ned was a good-natured man that will always be remembered for his kindness.

Ned was preceded in death by his wife Irene, son Larry, and his eight siblings and his parents.

He is survived by his daughter Denise O’Lear (Mike); daughter-in-law Fely Drake; four granddaughters, Sarah, Sharri, Lisa and Mindy; and his two great grandchildren

Per Ned’s request, no funeral services will be performed.
