C-Falls grabs first at home meet; Whitefish takes third
The Columbia Falls speech and debate team placed first among Class A schools at its invitational home meet Saturday, while Stevensville slid into second place and Whitefish took third.
Five Columbia Falls speakers took home championship medals in their respective categories — Raphe Salon, Legislative Debate; Zack Tillman, Dramatic Interpretation; Ruby Davis, Informative; Aiden Judge, Extemporaneous; Eddie Chisholm and Emma Stephens, Policy Debate.
Also placing at the event for the Wildcats were:
• Eleanor Hollingsworth and Emma Wendt, second in Policy Debate
• Griffin Conger, second in Dramatic Interpretation
• KaiLee Cole and Lauren Rogers, third in Policy Debate
• Carson Settles, third in Informative
• Celestine Young and Selah Heinzen, fifth in Public Forum
• Aiden Judge, fifth in Memorized Public Address
• Ruby Davis, fifth in Informative
• Aiden Rohn and Braiden Crawford, sixth in Public Forum
• Zack Tillman, sixth in Memorized Public Address
• Quinn Caudle and Kynsleigh Gould, seventh in Public Forum
• Griffin Conger - 8th in Original Oratory
Whitefish had second-place finishers in two categories: May Rowles and Jayce McDonald in Public Forum Debate; and Emma Trieweiler in Extemporaneous. Other Whitefish placer were:
• Gavin Carmichael and Alex Losee, sixth in Policy Debate
• Charlotte Perkins, sixth in Lincoln-Douglas Debate
• Zoey Marzo, seventh in Original Oratory
"Although we were a smaller group, we are a dedicated group of participants," Whitefish Head Coach Sara Mueller said. "I am proud of how they reach out to each other and work together. I am looking forward to getting most students regularly competing in December. "
