Cheri Truman Butts, 65

| November 24, 2021 12:00 AM

Cheri Truman Butts of Eureka passed away on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at Logan Health.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1956, to Frank and Nellie Triplett Truman. She was the last born of six children.

Cheri had the kindest heart and bravest spirit of anyone. She spent over 30 years in the Mountain View Manor after she was diagnosed with MS and surgery for a brain tumor. Her disabilities didn’t dappen her spirit. She always had stories to tell and jokes to share. When she was well she loved spending time with her husband David and son Davy fishing and camping. She was a great little homemaker, raising a huge garden and canning everything that could be canned.

Probably the thing most people remember about Cheri is her horses. She raised her faithful buddy Star from the time she was 10 years old. After that you could find her on some race track somewhere, where she helped her uncles with their race horses. She finally got her own race horses and trained them herself.

Cheri is survived by her husband David and son Davy Butts of Rexford, and granddaughter MacKenzie Nelson. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Cook of Eureka, brother Bud Truman of Deer Lodge, and sister Charlotte “Sharkie” Truman Kraus (Tom) of Whitefish.

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Truman, mother Nellie Darling, dad Don Darling, and sisters Shirley Kauffman and Delores Truman.

She is also survived by her family and caregivers at Mountain View Manor.

Her brother-in-law, Dennis Butts, passed the same day that Cheri did.

A service will be held in the summer.
