Thomas Matthew Gebhardt, 35

| November 24, 2021 12:00 AM

Beloved son, father, and friend, Thomas Matthew Gebhardt, 35, passed away at home from colon cancer on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021.

Tom was born in Kalispell on the early morning of Sept. 3, 1986, to Matt and Cheryl Gebhardt. He lived in Palmer and Wasilla, Alaska, for most of the last 30 years of his life.

The oldest of three children, Tom was quiet, determined and practical. He grew up loving music and enjoyed building PCs, gaming, fishing, camping, science and mathematics. His career was spent in the information technology field and Tom very much enjoyed his friends at AlasConnect where he was employed.

Tom was a person of very few words and could be quite direct. We lovingly and fondly wonder had he written his own obituary it might simply have said, “I’m Tom. I died.”

Tom leaves two wonderful children, Lily, born in 2008, and Titus, born in 2013. Tom is survived and missed by his parents, his brother Ryan Gebhardt, his sister Brenna (Paul) Russell, his grandparents (Frank and Peg Gebhardt), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and ex-wife (Heather).

Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents (John and Lucille Helsper) and aunt (Lisa Helsper).

Special thanks to the HR departments of AlasConnect and MTA, Dr. Jose Ness and his wonderful staff and also the staffs of Logan Health’s Hospice and Palliative care and Infusion Center. We cannot thank enough all the wonderfully kind doctors and nurses who attended Tom (and his family) and made his procedures and stays as comfortable as possible. Finally, with the deepest gratitude and greatest appreciation to our families and friends for their prayers and support in so many ways throughout Tom’s illness.

No services are planned. A family remembrance will occur at a later date to be determined.

Suggested donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a local hospice/palliative care center of one’s choice.

Friends are encouraged to visit the website www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolence for the family. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
