ClaraEllen Collins was born on Jan. 18, 1931, in Somers to Harold and Helen (Seidemann) Collins.

She was educated in Somers, Roundup and Kalispell.

She graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in education, and one of the joys of her life was teaching third grade at Russell and Hedges elementary schools.

ClaraEllen met the love of her life, Jerome “Jerry” Anderson, and they were married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Aug. 8,1964.Their world was made complete when they were given the gifts of their two daughters, Jeri Ellen and SueEllyn.

As a family of four, they enjoyed many camping adventures and outings to Glacier National Park. Unfortunately, it was cut short with Jerry’s passing in 1971.

As the girls grew older, she returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher. She was also involved as a leader with 4-H.

ClaraEllen was an outstanding and creative seamstress, and she made many beautiful dresses for herself and for her girls. She later took up crocheting and knitting, making many prayer shawls to be given to those in need.

In addition, ClaraEllen was an accomplished pianist, and she gave private lessons to numerous students. Because of her love of music, she was an active member with the Flathead Valley Community Concert Association.

She sang in her church choir, and she shared her beautiful soprano voice by singing for weddings and other special occasions.

ClaraEllen passed away peacefully at Logan Health Medical Center on Sept. 27, 2021, after a 10-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

A celebration of new life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish on Monday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m.
