Law roundup: Man claims shots aimed at bears, not house
A man calling from Monte Vista Drive was getting ready to get in the shower when two shots were reportedly fired at his bedroom window. He found bullet holes in the wall and a bullet on the bed. Four people in the house took cover. Columbia Falls Police Department made contact with the man doing the shooting and he claimed he had some bears in his apple trees.
Dog were barking “nonstop” on Third Avenue, however, no barking was heard when officers arrived.
A carbon monoxide alarm went off at a 10th Street location and everyone went outside.
Kalispell Police Department received a report that a woman was allegedly drinking out of a flask at a nail salon and was “smashed” by the time she got into a red truck where she sat smoking. The person calling in the report described her as having reddish-blonde hair and wearing “ugly leggings” and a T-shirt. Officers checked the store parking lot and surrounding area but didn’t locate the truck or woman.
A man had a hunch his new girlfriend’s ex spit on his truck after leaving a school choir concert early.
An employee allegedly confronted a group of seven teens who were dismantling a rock wall around a skate park and when he asked them to leave they became angry so he left. The boys were using one of the rocks to keep a broken-down truck from rolling back.
Someone reportedly warned a man to move a camper parked in a business’s lot or it would be towed. He said he would be out by the weekend. The owner of a second camper full of stuff told officers he was working on getting a flat fixed and would move it by that night.
Someone allegedly saw officers across the street from their location and called to express concerns that the man living there was dealing drugs.
A welfare check was requested for a man who was reportedly sitting outside a location rocking and talking to himself. He was OK.
Someone called the police and hung up. On the callback, a man claimed his wife was stealing money using his debit card and she was “trying to run” in a vehicle. Officers spoke with an employee who said everyone was calm and they were just having a disagreement. The group was gone by the time officers arrived.
A verbal disturbance was reported when a woman’s intoxicated husband allegedly threatened to pull a gun on her, called her names, tried to kick her out and take her keys when she told him she cheated. Parties were counseled.
A crying woman called police and said officers were just there, however, a man wouldn’t leave after he told them he would and was breaking glass, following her, blocking her from leaving and arguing about rent money. Both parties again told officers the disturbance was verbal only. Police gave the man a courtesy transport to a gas station.
A woman had questions for an officer after being let go from her job, claiming her boss threatened to throw away her belongings if she wasn’t out by midnight. Her questions were answered.
