Ronan man dies in traffic crash on U.S. 93
A Ronan man is dead and two others were injured after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 93 near St. Ignatius Thursday night.
According to Montana Highway Patrol, a 49-year-old Arlee man was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee north at about 9 p.m. when it crossed the centerline and struck a south bound GMC Yukon, driven by a 58-year-old man from Ronan.
The Yukon left the highway and rolled, ejecting the passenger, a 55-year-old Ronan woman, who was not wearing a seat belt. She was injured and taken to St. Patrick’s Hospital. The 58-year-old man died. It was not known if he was wearing a seat belt.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee slid off the left side of the road. The Arlee man, who was wearing a seat belt, was injured and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital.
Road conditions were described as wet by Trooper Aaron Day. The crash is still being investigated and it wasn’t known if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors.
