Plenty of Halloween activities planned for youngsters
There’s plenty of fun planned this Halloween around the Flathead Valley for little ghouls and goblins, so grab your costumes and get some treats. Here’s a look at what’s happening:
FRIDAY, OCT. 29
• The Springs at Whitefish hosts a trunk or treat from 4 to 6 p.m. Bring the kids and enjoy some good old-fashioned Halloween fun. The Springs is located at 1001 River Lakes Pkwy.
• Keller Williams Realty Northwest Montana is hosting a trunk-or-treat event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Southfield Tower parking lot, 1830 Third Ave. E., in Kalispell. Vote for your favorite "trunk," wear your costume, and get some candy. The event is free to the public, however, a donation of socks, gloves or hats to help support the Warming Center are encouraged. A food truck will be on site.
SATURDAY, OCT. 30
• Deer Park School is having a harvest carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome and costumes are encouraged. The carnival will feature over 15 games, a cupcake walk, pre-carved pumpkin contest, face painting, craft corner, haunted house and a photo booth. Tickets are 25 cents each or 25 tickets for $5. Concessions will be available.
• The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and Flathead County Sheriff’s Posse have joined forces for a Halloween trunk-or-treat event for the children of the Flathead Valley. The event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Kmart parking lot in Kalispell. Costumes are encouraged.
• The Kalispell Elks Lodge invites parents and grandparents to bring their kids to carve pumpkins at 2 p.m. There will be Halloween treats and a pumpkin contest. The Elks is located at 1820 U.S. 93 S.
• Lone Pine State Park in Kalispell hosts a free ranger talk program on “Creepy Crawlers of Montana” from 7 to 8 p.m. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. An $8 park entry fee still applies for non-residents.
• Elevation Cars of Kalispell is hosting a trunk-or-treat event with its special tricked out cars from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Kalispell Center Mall.
There will be first, second and third place prizes awarded for the best costumes of the car owners, voted on by the public.
SUNDAY, OCT. 31
• Kids and the public are welcome to look inside the Conrad Mansion’s windows for some spooky Halloween displays.
• Dee-O-Gee, 635 Treeline Road in Kalispell, is hosting a “Howl-o-Ween” trick-or-treat event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the four-legged family members of the Flathead Valley. Local businesses will be handing out treats for the dogs, with a costume contest and a chance to win pet prizes.
• Stumptown Art Studio invites everyone to its Trick or Treat Street event in downtown Whitefish starting at 3 p.m. Merchants will hand out candy and treats to little goblins and ghouls and the studio turns into a spooky walk-through haunted house. The event is free and family-friendly.
Volunteers will be handing out treat bags to kids from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of First Presbyterian Church, 540 S. Main St. in Kalispell. Show off your costumes and get a treat bag with candy and small toys.
• The Kalispell Moose Lodge is hosting a trunk-or-treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. The lodge is located 2158 U.S. 2 E. in Evergreen.
• The Kalispell Center Mall and Gateway Community Center have joined forces to host Kalispell’s Lil’ Ghouls & Goblins Trunk or Treat from 4 to 6 p.m.
Kalispell Center Mall will be handing out candy in the former Herberger’s parking lot with the “Last Ride” Buffalo Hill Halloween Hearse. There will be ghoulish games. A kids costume parade and contest begins at 5 p.m.
• The Gateway Community Center, 1203 U.S. 2 W. in Kalispell, will be handing out candy from 4 to 6 p.m. in the west parking lot. There will be a costume contest, ghoulish games, pumpkin decorating (while supplies last), and a kids costume contest and parade, with prizes.
• St. Matthew’s School in Kalispell is hosting its trunk-or-treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. The school is located at 602 S. Main St.
• Faith Lutheran Church is hosting a trunk-or-treat event from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The church is located at 405 Liberty St. in Kalispell. There will be games and treats available. This family-friendly event is hosted by the youth group, Alpha Omega.
• North Valley Baptist Church hosts a trunk-or-treat event from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church parking lost at 1750 Talbot Road in Columbia Falls. Bring the kids dressed in their costumes.
• Bitterroot Beauty in Marion is having a Trick or Treat Street event starting at 5 p.m. There will be a haunted backyard on site.
The business is located at 68 Bitterroot Drive.
