| September 2, 2021 12:00 AM

The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater invites students in grades 2 through 12 to audition Tuesday, Sept. 7, (the day after Labor Day) for the cast of Disney's hit musical "The Lion King Jr.”

“The Lion King, Jr.” tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king.

“The Lion King Jr.” features classic songs from the 1994 film, such as “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” as well as additional songs written for the Broadway production.

Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse from 4 to 5 p.m. for second and third graders, 5 to 6:30 p.m. for fourth through seventh graders, and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for eighth through 12th graders.

This production calls for a cast of close to 50, with over 12 feature roles and a medium-size chorus.

It costs nothing to audition, however, there is a $50 participation fee to be a part of the show if cast. Prepare a 30-second monologue or short selection from another play or book, (Several will be available at the audition if you can’t find one) and plan to learn and sing something at the audition. No experience is needed. Wear comfortable shoes that you can move around the stage in. At this time masks aren’t required, but bring one just in case.

If you’re not interested in stage work but would like to be involved, help is needed with building sets, props, costumes, lights and sound. Parental and student assistance is welcome.
