Crews to resume US 93 work near Lakeside
The Montana Department of Transportation plans to resume work Tuesday on the U.S. 93 Lakeside North and South Project.
The highway resurfacing project begins just north of West Shore State Park near the Presbyterian Camp Road and extends north through Lakeside, ending near the Old U.S. 93 intersection.
Work on the project began in the spring, with crews repairing the most severely damaged areas of pavement, installing new roadside markers and signage and upgrading two sidewalk ramps in Lakeside.
MDT postponed the remaining work until after Labor Day, waiting for better weather and reduced traffic congestion.
Construction will take place during daylight hours and is expected to begin at 8:30 a.m. Motorists should expect 30-minute delays, as traffic will be reduced to one lane with pilot cars directing traffic.
"The resurfacing work is expected to only take a couple of weeks to complete, depending on weather," John Schmidt, an MDT construction engineer, said in a statement. "These improvements will extend the life of the highway surface, which saves us all money, and provide a smoother driving surface."
MDT will provide email and text message updates during construction. People can sign up for email updates by texting LAKESIDE93 to 22828. They can sign up for text updates by texting LAKESIDE93 to 866-434-0866. Questions and comments can be sent to brandon@rbci.net or by phone at 406-626-7272.
