A crab and shrimp boil fundraiser is being held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, for the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre.

The dinner features fresh crab and shrimp, clam chowder, andouille sausage, side dishes, salad, dessert and a beverage. Curbside pickup is available at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8559 Montana 35, in Bigfork.

Tickets are $45 each, available at the door or online at bigforksummerplayhouse.com. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization.

Hockaday hosts open house for educators

The Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell is hosting an open house for educators today from 4 to 6 p.m.

The event is free for teachers and parents teaching from home. Bring a friend.

Attendees will tour the current exhibitions and classroom, learn about the museum’s educational programs including those offered virtually, chat with Hockaday executive director Alyssa Cordova and director of education Kathy Martin, view art curriculum samples and projects, including those now offered virtually, network with other educators in the area and more.

A scavenger hunt and door prizes too will offered. Drinks and refreshments provided.

Museum Locals Day is Saturday

​​Saturday, Sept. 18, is Locals Day at downtown Kalispell museums.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. visit the Conrad Mansion, Hockaday Museum of Art and the Northwest Montana History Museum for one reduced price. A pass to all three museums is available at any location for Montana residents who present their ID for $10. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.

There will be scavenger hunts, tours, family activities, raffles and prizes. Food trucks will also be on site.

Anyone who collects stamps from all three museums will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. Kids who complete the scavenger hunt will also be eligible for a grand prize.

Montana Book Festival goes virtual

The Montana Book Festival board of directors has made the decision to pivot its entire 2021 Festival line-up to virtual events due to rising COVID rates in Missoula County. Events begin today, Sept. 16, and continue through Sept. 18, with more events scheduled Saturday, Sept. 25.
