Doreen M. Thigpen, 75

Doreen M. Thigpen, of Bigfork, passed away at Logan Health Medical Center in Kalispell on Aug. 25, 2021, at age 75. Doreen was born to Arthur and Valerie Jones on Aug. 12, 1946, in Santa Monica, California. Doreen attended Pacific Palisades High School, Santa Monica City College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She was married to Greg Thigpen in November of 1974.

She is survived by her husband, Greg, daughter, Heather Schidler, of Bothell, Washington, and grandchildren Abigail and Ben Schidler.

After a 30-year career as a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff, Doreen retired as a lieutenant in 2001. Doreen and Greg settled into the less hectic environment of Bigfork in early 2004. She loved the beauty of the place, the seasons and most of all the people. She brought joy to all with her quick wit and constant smile. Family and faith were her highest priorities. She enjoyed entertaining, volunteering at her church, the art museum, and the food bank in Bigfork.

A service in her memory will be at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church of Bigfork in the spring of 2022.

The world will be a little less bright without her.
