Adam Fredrick Topp, 36, of Kalispell, passed away Sept. 18, 2021, in Kalispell.

Adam was born May 18, 1985 in Spokane to Douglas Topp and Faith Smith. From an early age Adam loved to be outdoors and spending time doing various activities with his friends and family. One such memory that his father has of him was taking him to an Oakland A’s game at Oakland Coliseum and getting to see his favorite pitcher, Dennis Eckersley, pitching when he was 10 years old. Another memory of Adam was taking him over the Golden Gate bridge for the first time. Adam also loved visiting Sea World at Vallejo, California, driving up the Oregon coast, and stopping at a petting zoo. His first trip out of the country was to Canada to visit Fairmont Hot Springs with his friend Spencer. While in junior high, he was also part of the junior ROTC program. He also obtained his GED as an adult.

Some of Adam’s favorite locations that he enjoyed visiting were Glacier National Park and Woodland Park. His favorite outdoor activities were archery, fishing, camping, baseball, and going for long walks in the rain. He played baseball as child. He did more camping and fishing as he grew up, and went to Lake Koocanusa and Lake Tahoe, to name a few. He got into archery later in his life.

Throughout his entire life he has always had a love of animals. He worked at a couple of pet stores in the valley. He even obtained his certification to become a certified canine education instructor. Adam enjoyed attending family functions as often as he could. He always did whatever he could to spend time with his nieces and nephews and to attend their sporting events any chance that he got. Oh, he also loved his red chicken, which was actually corned beef.

One of his favorite pastimes as a child was playing with model trains with his father. As a teenager, his pastimes included playing tournaments for the card games Magic and Pokémon in a local card shop. As an adult, his pastimes consisted of watching various sci-fi movies like “Star Wars” and “Star Trek.” He also enjoyed fantasy movies such as “The Lord of the Rings Trilogy,” “The Hobbit Trilogy,” and “Harry Potter.” He loved playing World of Warcraft online and playing Roblox with his nephew Nathaniel Jr.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Lillian Topp, his grandparents Joyce and Willie Jo Smith, and uncles Christopher Smith and William “Kim” Smith, and aunt Renee Crocker.

He is survived by his parents Doug (Helen) Topp and Faith (Greg) Duke, his siblings Luca Belarde, Adam (Amber) Belarde, Christopher Topp and Jennifer (Nathaniel) Topp-Comes, grandparents Fred (Pat) Topp, uncles Danny (Grace) Topp, David (Denise) Topp, Bill (Sharon) Bush, Sam (Norma) Smith, and Andy Smith, his aunts Mary (Chris) Bogan, Melissa (Shane) Topp-Hoge, Marcee Topp, Carolyn (Adrian) Palmer, and Trish (Gene) Meyer, Missy and Chris Colley, Julie Birk, Marie and Kenny Bailey, his nieces Ukiah Belarde, Dakota Belarde, Ariana Belarde and Makayla Belarde, his nephews Kai Belarde and Nathaniel Comes Jr., and numerous cousins.

He was a protector of his younger siblings Christopher and Jennifer as he got older. Through thick and thin they had each other’s backs. He truly was a strong, loving, caring, fierce man who overcame a lot of personal struggles. He will always be loved and will never be forgotten.

His celebration of life will take place at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home this Friday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.
