The Lil Smokies return to Missoula for New Year's Eve concert
As is tradition, Montana’s bluegrass band The Lil Smokies will return to The Wilma Theater in Missoula for a New Year’s Eve celebration Friday, Dec. 31. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the concert begins at 9 p.m.
The Lil Smokies are a staple of the string music scene in Montana. Ring in 2022 with one of the best bands to come out of The Last Best Place.
With high ceilings, ample space, and one of the best ventilation systems in the state, the Wilma is a unique venue for the Montana community to support the arts in a spacious and more comfortable environment as the colder months settle in.
Drawing on the energy of a rock band and the Laurel Canyon songwriting of the ‘70s, The Lil Smokies are reimagining their approach to roots music on their 2020 album “Tornillo,” named for the remote Texas town where the album was recorded. Produced by Bill Reynolds (The Avett Brothers, Band of Horses), “Tornillo” is the band’s third studio album.
Formed in Missoula, The Lil Smokies have built a national following through constant touring, they have performed at Red Rocks, LOCKN’, High Sierra, Telluride, Bourbon & Beyond and more.
