Naomi Mary Mast (Kauffman), 85

Naomi Mary Mast (Kauffman) was born June 17, 1936, in Creston. Naomi accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was born into the family of God at age 13. It was after church one Sunday that she unintentionally caught the attention of Jim Kauffman, a young widower and father of two little boys. Jim and Naomi were married September 1961. In addition to her two bonus sons, Elton and Jimmy “Jay,” siblings Anita, Willard, Nettie, Renee, Ted and Jeremiah joined the family over the coming years.

Naomi left this earth on Sept. 23, 2021, to be with her heavenly Father for eternity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Elma (Sutter) Mast, her beloved husband, siblings Priscilla Buller, Frank Mast, Martha Boss, Ada Mast, and son Thomas Samuel.

Naomi is survived by brothers Larry (Helen) Mast and Myron (Vicky) Mast; children Elton (Gayla) Kauffman, Jay (Angie) Kauffman, Anita (Bill) Stinde, Willard (Dawn) Kauffman, Nettie (Steve) Wagoner, Renee (Jon) Sanford, Ted (Natalie) Kauffman, Jeremiah (April) Kauffman, foster sons Jerry and Vernon Dachs, their families; 48 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Naomi was a generous, compassionate woman who had special loved ones who adopted her for their Mama and Granny. Many other of her friends called her Mom.

There will be a graveside service in Creston Cemetery, 5195 Montana Hwy. 35 on Thursday, Sept. 30, at 5 p.m.
