| September 30, 2021 12:00 AM

Phillips Studio & Gallery features professional Montana artist DeNae Weimer in her exhibition titled, “Call of the Wild” through Oct. 30.

Meet the artist at the First Friday reception Oct. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Weimer is an award-winning artist and local art instructor living and working in Kalispell. She is inspired by the local natural beauty and her passion continues to grow daily for this area and Glacier National Park. She has a bond with the landscape, as well as an esteem for its mountains, wildlife and flowers. She has matured into a strong, sensitive painter in watercolor portraits and landscapes in a realistic style. The exhibit showcases a selection of her paintings in both watercolor and oil.

Weimer describes life as an extraordinary journey. She and her young family started exploring the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, packing horses into the Bob Marshall Wilderness and hiking the peaks in Glacier National Park. She began painting the mountains and mountain wildflowers. She chooses colors indicative of how she is feeling about the scene, portraying through her paintings her emotional response to it.

Weimer started operating Mark Ogle Studio upon arriving in Montana. Throughout a decade of selling art, she was fortunate to meet some wonderful artists who mentored her along and critiqued many of her works. Her work has been exhibited numerous times and participated in Plein Air Invitational painting events with the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell. Her paintings are now in collections across the globe.
