Wolfpack boys stay unbeaten

The Glacier Wolfpack boys tennis team won both its duals Saturday to improve to 5-0 overall.

But even more impressively, the defending state champions were 16-0 in matches against Big Sky and Sentinel.

“That’s a pretty good way to go,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said.

With Will Rudbach and Harrison Sanders swapped in the lineup – Rudbach at No. 1 and Sanders at No. 2 – the Wolfpack cruised to their two wins, all the while battling the elements.

Rudbach went to three sets with Sentinel’s Noah Nelson and prevailed 7-6(6), 6-7(2), 11-9 with a hole in his shoe. Midway through the second set, Rudbach swapped shoes with a teammate and continued playing.

Sanders won each of his matches, both by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

Munro said the two will continue to be rotated in the lineup.

“Harry and Will are such equal players, we want to make sure they get experience,” Munro said.

“We will most likely be swapping them around throughout the season.”

Glacier’s girls beat Sentinel 6-2 and tied Big Sky 4-4.

“I’m proud of the girls, they won and they tied,” Munro said. “It’s a solid day for them as well. Things are going to start getting a lot tougher as we get into the next couple weeks, nice to have some good momentum.”

Doubles pair Haven Speer and Sarah Downs won twice Saturday, as did Alex Galloway and Timmy Glanville. Bella Teggeman also won twice at No. 4 singles.

“The girls are competitive, they’re playing well, we’ve just got to start to turn that corner,” Munro said.

The Wolfpack next hits the FVCC courts Tuesday, for a 4 p.m. dual versus Columbia Falls.
