Blacktail ski season continues Saturday
Blacktail Mountain is slated to open for skiing over Easter weekend, with mid-winter conditions on tap.
The ski area above Lakeside announced Monday that it will open Saturday with lift service from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The mountain got hit with a big snowstorm Sunday night that dumped about a foot of new snow on the slopes. The summit base depth was reported at 40 inches on Tuesday.
Along with lift operations, the ski area is planning an Easter egg scavenger hunt and a family barbecue at the bottom of the Olympic chair lift. Costumes are encouraged.
The mountain is offering a special discount to pass holders from other Montana ski areas, with a full-day lift tickets priced at $25.
Operations after Saturday will be determined based on conditions, the forecast, and how many guests come up on Saturday, the ski area stated in a press release.
"Blacktail Mountain staff would love to continue to operate on Saturdays through the end of the month if enough people are excited to keep skiing and snowboarding before turning their attention to spring activities," the release stated.
