FHS Theatre stages comical ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’
Flathead High School Theatre will take you on an enchanted trip through a forest where love is discovered, magic and mischief prevail, and adventure is around every corner in William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” April 21, 22 and 23 at 6:27 p.m. in the David M. Hashley Theater at FHS. Tickets are priced at $7 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens and are available at the FHS Main Office and Photo Video Plus.
This classic tale of troubled love tells the story of mistaken passions during a magical romp through the forest. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” has multiple storylines interwoven within the play and there is no end to the complications or the comedy — thwarted lovers, transfigured humans, comic rustics and an all-out war in the Fairy World. As one of the most enchanting and accessible scripts Shakespeare ever penned, “Midsummer” continues to captivate and charm audience members of all ages.
“We try hard to make what might seem like unfamiliar language relatable and easy to understand for everyone,” director Jennifer Stebbins said. “We have added much music and modern elements to what I think is Shakespeare’s funniest script and I think the show will surprise you with how easy it is to follow … a story that has been around for so long and can still entertain and delight us!”
Over 40 students are contributing to the production.
“I love the simple process of coming together that is inevitable with every show,” Stebbins said. “David Hashley, the namesake of our theater, was so accurate when he said ‘When love and skill work together, expect a miracle.’”
