WTC hosts Celtic rock sensation

| April 14, 2022 12:00 AM

The Whitefish Theatre Company presents the Derina Harvey Band, an award-winning Celtic Rock quintet known for their big sound, humor and dynamic live shows. A family-friendly concert, the Derina Harvey Band will perform their “raucously entertaining” music Wednesday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

Fearless front-woman Derina Harvey leads this Celtic sensation, winners of the People’s Choice Award at the 2018 Edmonton Music Awards. With a show that offers a fresh take on traditional folk songs, as well as a few originals, the Derina Harvey Band has a rocky, rhythmic undertow layered with guitars, fiddle, and topped by Harvey’s powerful voice and vibrant personality.

According to “The Celtic Show,” “the band has built its reputation through high-energy live shows “bringing color to your cheeks and creating music and joy that will fill your heart and soul.”

Based in Alberta, but made up largely of expats of Newfoundland and Labrador, Harvey will be joined by Edward Smith on bass, Jess Blenis on violin, Scott Greene on electric guitar, and Steve Pinsent on drums. This quintet has been likened to a “rockier” version of Canada’s Great Big Sea if they were fronted by Adele.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students with reserved seating. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office, 1 Central Ave., Whitefish, or by calling 406-862-5371. Box office hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and one hour before a performance. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.whitefishtheatreco.org.
