RONAN — Bigfork’s big numbers and impressive speed led to a sweep of the Dilly Bar Invitational Saturday.

The Vikings won 10 of 16 events while piling up 208 points to 80 for runner-up 80; the Valkyries won 12 of 16 and had 194 points. Ronan’s girls were second out of six teams at 111.5.

Highlights included the boys high jump, where Payton Cates of Ronan and George Bucklin of Bigfork both cleared 6 feet, 4 inches.

Cates now ranks No. 1 in Class A; Bucklin sits tied for second in B.

Bigfork’s Jack Jensen won the 1,600 in a Class B-best 4 minutes, 43.19 seconds. The Vikings also won the short relay.

Mission’s Charles Adams won the 200 and long jump, and teammate Andrew Rush took the 400 and 3,200. Rush, a junior, ran excellent times in both races: 53.77 in the 400, fifth in Class B; 10:24.0 in the 3,200, No. 2 in B.

Polson’s Jarrett Wilson won the 300 hurdles in 44.56, the sixth-best time in A.

One of the better marks for the girls came from Ronan’s Olivia Heiner, who swept the 1,600 and 3,200. Her time in the latter, 12:56.3, sits fourth in Class A.
