Mariners split in Florence

FLORENCE — Alex Muzquiz had seven hits on the day to help the Mission Valley Mariners to a Sunday split of American Legion baseball games.

Mission Valley rolled past the Belgrade Bandits, 15-3 on Sunday morning, but fell 6-5 to the host Bitterroot Bucs later in the day.

Muzquiz batted 3-4 with two triples and four RBI in the morning contest, then was 3-for-4 with two triples and two RBI against Bitterroot.

Dylan DuMont and Wyatt Wadsworth each contributed two doubles.

TJ Hyack had a triple and Oscar Kallis and Kaden Drish each had doubles in the first game of the Kalispell Lakers A doubleheader with the Missoula Mavericks A on Sunday.

The Lakers pummeled Missoula 11-3 in the first game, but fell 7-2 in the second.

Michael Owens had six RBI on the day — four in the first game.
