MISSOULA — Taliana Miller of Flathead, Gabe Menicke of Whitefish and Jack Jensen of Bigfork all won events at the 22nd Russ Pilcher Top 10 Meet, held Tuesday at MCPS Stadium.

Many of the top competitors from Libby to Dillon and Ennis to Helena competed in the meet, with Miller throwing a career-best 120 feet, 7 inches to win the javelin.

Menicke won the triple jump with a mark of 45-2, not far off the 21-year-old meet record of 45-5 ¾, set by Butte Central’s Tyler McIntyre.

Jensen won a tight 1,600 in 4 minutes, 36.04 seconds, lowering his Class B-best time while holding off Hamilton’s Colter Purcell and Flathead’s Kesler Hughes, among others.

Two meet records were set, both on the boys side: Dillon’s Treyton Anderson won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.36, taking Whitefish standout Taylor Ferda’s 14.44 from 2006 off the list; Missoula Sentinel’s Keagan Crosby set the meet record in the 800, running 1:55.21.

Glacier’s Sam Ells wasn’t far behind Crosby, taking second in a career-best 1:56.69.

Anderson’s previous best in the high hurdles was 14.84.

The boys 400 relay record was in jeopardy: Sentinel clocked 42.78, just .06 off the mark. Glacier was second at 42.97. Unofficially the Spartans and Pack are the first two relay teams to break 43 seconds this spring.

Flathead’s Gabe Felton was third in the 3,200, and Bravette Lilli Rumsey Eash was fourth in a deep girls 3,200 race.

Glacier’s Caleb Bernhardt (40.47) was second in the 300 hurdles to Sentinel’s Drew Klumph, with borth runners lowering the personal bests. Wolfpack teammates Jackson Hensley and Jake Turner were second in the 200 and 400. Both runners were the best of the AA competitors, and Hensley ran his career-best time (22.49).

The Pack also saw Tate Kauffman take fourth in the boys triple jump, edging Flathead’s Dylan Zink by a half inch.

Glacier’s Noah Fincher took fourth in the girls 100-meter dash.

Whitefish burner Brooke Zetooney was third in the 100, running 12.88; teammate Hailey Ells was fourth in the 300 hurdles. The Bulldog boys were represented well by Menicke, Bodie Smith (fourth, 300 hurdles) and Talon Holmquist (second in the shot put, fifth in the discus).

Bigfork’s George Bucklin was second in the high jump; Libby’s Rylee Boltz was fourth in the girls 400, just ahead of Bigfork’s Chloe Raats.
