Bonnie Joan Lohman Shurtz, 86
Bonnie Joan Lohman Shurtz was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Walkerville, Montana.
In the early morning of Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, while sitting in her favorite chair facing her beloved lake, she peacefully passed away in her sleep. Bonnie lived a wonderful life and was just two weeks away from her 87th birthday.
Bonnie graduated from Butte High School in 1953. While attending, she met and fell in love with her husband Glenn whom she married at the age of 20. He was a Montana State School of Mines engineer whose career took them all around the world including Scotland, Peru and Columbia.
After returning to the states, Bonnie moved back to her beloved state of Montana and settled in the Bigfork area for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her friends swimming, golfing, sewing, hiking and playing bridge.
Bonnie believed in supporting the community and giving back. She loved working in the Visitors Center, helping the elderly and supporting her local church.
A couple of weeks before her death, Bonnie enjoyed hosting her entire family at her home on Flathead Lake. The time was spent in laughter and many memory making moments.
Every single year, her five children, seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her house with love, joy, excitement, and chaos. Her friends in the area always knew when her family was coming with the emptying of grocery store shelves in preparation of their arrival. Bonnie loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Shurtz, her parents, Frank and Maude Lohman, and her brother Tom Lohman.
She is survived by her sister, Pam Cash, sister-in-law, Evelyn Lohman, children, Glenn (Sherrie) Shurtz, Pamela (Bubba) Coots, Paul Shurtz, Greg Shurtz and David (Teresa) Shurtz: grandchildren, Charles (Michelle) Coots, Hannah (Sunny) Rathore, Sarah (Janine) DeLuna, Rebekah Lewis, Taylor (Pate) Davis, Steven (Molly) Shurtz and Bryan (Mandy) Shurtz: great-grandchildren, Kasyn Lewis, Everest Rathore, Kylee Coots, Kimberlee Coots and Collins Davis, as well as another great-granddaughter on the way; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
