Arland 'Arnie' Jay Riebe, 72

| August 14, 2022 12:00 AM

Arland “Arnie” Jay Riebe was born in Kalispell on May 31, 1950, to Martin Christian and Evelyn Grace (Burnell) Riebe. He peacefully went home to heaven on Aug. 6, 2022.

Arnie married Shirley Ann Webber in 1971, and they had three children. They settled in Kila in 1981 and have resided there since. Arnie worked multiple jobs over the years, starting as a cowboy and ending as a property manager.

Arnie loved his family and friends, and it was his earnest desire to meet them in heaven. Although he wasn't perfect, his life was a testimony of the grace he received through Jesus, whether it was by explanation of salvation through faith, by demonstration of undeserved forgiveness, or by personal sacrifice for another's benefit.

Arnie was predeceased by his second son, Martin Christian “Chris” Riebe II.

Arnie is survived by his wife Shirley, children and children-in-law Erik Riebe, Ana Riebe, Shannon and Brandon Rader, Erin and David Arndt, grandchildren Madison and Kurtis Nix, Skylar, Cloei, Jessilyn, Bowen, Hannah, and Tanner Riebe, Hannah, Aidan, Kenzie, Cade, Emmy, Lilly, Ethan, and Madeleine Rader, and Finn, Leif, Emma, and Axel Arndt, and great-grandson Baby Nix.

Arnie is also survived by sisters-in-law Linda Setzer and Charlene Webber, uncle and aunt Bob and Arlene Dunluck, many nieces and nephews including Tammy, Richard, and Janasya Amaker and Jean Setzer, many cousins including Don and Rochelle Sullivan, Linda Jelleff, Shirley Ramey, Daryl Bain, and Corinna and Mike Stone. Arnie was like a father or grandfather to many people and is further survived by Andy Gionis and family, the Josh and Shelby Cox family, the Stone girls, Cassie and Dalton Meredith, and Tracey and Jason McGuire and family, as well as by dear friends Mark and Holly Diehl and family, Fred Tai and Clare Brownlee-Tai and family, and many more too numerous to name.

A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 20 at Kila Country Church in Kila.
